ARTURb 2024 > Invited Artists > Daniela Guerreiro (PT)
Daniela Guerreiro is a Portuguese visual artist, born in 1992 in Faro. She lives in Lisbon and studied Visual Arts at the Faculty of the Algarve from 2013 to 2014, and then Painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Lisbon, from 2014 to 2017.
Daniela is a figurative painter whose main intention in her work is to show reality, naked and raw, in other words, her vision of the world. Painting allows her to capture individual and collective experiences in a more explicit and visceral concept. Each of them embodies the concept of overcoming, experience, confidence, strength and energy through concepts that are little heard and talked about by society.
The use of unconventional models allows her to convey a hidden beauty between each identity, where she looks for the hidden and raw beauty of each character, working with color and the interaction between light and dark.
While oil paintings individualize society, street paintings aim to cover a wider, collective environment.
A personal journey, mental health and body connection are her main goals as a visual artist. “We need diversity in the examples around us. And we all need a healthier relationship with our body and our image in order to relate to the world.”
