ARTURb 2024 > Guest Artists > Eric Ve (DE)
Eric Ventker, born in 1995 in Wuppertal, Germany, has been immersed in the world of art from a young age, influenced by his artist father. Growing up in a studio environment, he experimented with various materials and techniques. His artistic journey took a significant turn in 2008 when he began painting graffiti, initially inspired by legal walls at a local skatepark.
By 2010, Ventker co-founded the “DHS” Crew, focusing on larger mural projects where he specialized in painting figures. His interest in realism and vibrant color use led him to develop his distinctive style, emphasizing characters as central elements rather than mere background figures.
Ventker pursued formal art education at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf from 2014 to 2020, studying under Prof. Siegfried Anzinger. Post-graduation, he frequently traveled to Portugal to undertake large-scale mural projects, collaborating with local artists like “SEN”. One notable project involved painting a 20-meter-high building resembling an abandoned church, where he depicted his sister and father as a tribute.
Ventker’s work often features portraits of friends and family, aiming to evoke a sense of familiarity and connection in viewers. His murals are designed to harmonize with their surroundings, providing a sense of home to the painted figures. In his studio work, he explores similar themes, using both oil and acrylic paints. Recently, he has been experimenting with merging multiple frames into a single moment, enhancing the viewer’s experience through dynamic perspectives.
In June 2024, Ventker held an exhibition in Germany alongside his father, showcasing their artworks and highlighting their shared artistic roots.
