ARTURb 2025 > Guest artist > Antonyo Marest (ES)
Antonyo Marest, born in 1987 in Alicante, Spain, is an international multidisciplinary artist who studied architecture and art at various European universities. With an artistic language marked by experience and a constant search for a connection with creativity, he finds his main reference in Art Deco, representing internal creative content which, combined with a contemporary base, serves as a generator of new forms of expression in a movement that celebrates its centenary this decade.
To understand Marest’s work – which encompasses sculpture, painting and design – it is essential to consider the influence of the environment on his artistic growth. Growing up in a Mediterranean city with over a thousand years of history, a meeting point for cultures and an urban setting transformed by sunlight, inspired his creativity. This inspiration was enriched by travelling and studying contexts that are fundamental to the universe of Art Deco, in countries such as France, Morocco, the United States and India. As a result of this originality, his work has received international recognition, confirming him as one of the main references in the introduction of new trends in urban art and contemporary expression formats.
In his artistic production, Marest incorporates abstractions found in nature – radiations of light beams, waves, fluids and undulating clouds that generate impossible harmonic forms. These elements introduce dynamics of movement into his chromatic discourse, where colour is the protagonist. Rather than just having a dialogue with the viewer, colour establishes a conversation between contents, formats and formal and abstract elements. After an elaborate chromatic study, this dialogue opens up to the public clearly and brilliantly.
His works also integrate geometry and restraint, and Marest’s unmistakable colourful flamingos symbolise allegories of the freedom that all living beings should be able to enjoy. Multiculturalism is at the centre of his work, reflecting a positive form of growth and evolution. In this new phase, his production is enriched with minimalist illustrations of fauna, reinforcing vital human commitments to environmental care, the protection of endangered species and the preservation of the immeasurable beauty of wildlife.
Marest’s artistic creations also incorporate leaf elements that sensually and dynamically transform into flowers and palm trees, functioning as columns and capitals based on symbols of strength, balance and virtuosity. The artist develops transgressive formats that have gained an international reputation, extending to collaborations in content design for major brands that trust his unmistakable style.
His vision articulates art, architecture and the world in a form of creation that transmits harmony, beauty and reflection to the public.
