Synopsis
“Linhas Vermelhas” is an exhibition that addresses the breakdown of universal values such as human rights, freedom, non-violence and respect for the truth. At a time in history when offensive discourse and disrespect for difference are becoming commonplace, this action aims to reflect on the importance of maintaining these principles as the foundations of coexistence. The red lines that run along the gallery walls unite the works on display, creating an installation that affirms the union between artists, for democracy, reinforcing the role of art as an instrument of critical awareness, activism and the defence of freedom.
This group exhibition is the result of the Creative Activities Laboratory’s Artistic Residency Programme (PRALAC), in the form of long- and short-term projects, as well as a showcase of works from the LAC’s collection.
