Synopsis
Based on the familiar image of the waiting room—a place where time slows down and the body waits for an answer—the project brings together two worlds: the Algarve coast, associated with the sea, tourism, and relaxation, and the thermal environment of Caldas da Rainha, linked to healing.
Between sea and steam, the works place the body in a state of suspension: neither entirely on vacation nor entirely undergoing treatment; neither solely landscape nor solely body. Through various artistic practices, minimal gestures and maximal gestures, silent anxieties and personal fictions are combined, turning the waiting room into a field of tension between stories, geographies, and regimes of care and exposure.
