Synopsis

On the night of June 16th, starting at 10pm, Museu Zer0 presents at LAC two concerts of immersive and contemplative electronic music. At 10 pm Gonçalo Penas will open the night with his concert and at 11 pm it will be Rita Silva’s turn.

Gonçalo Penas

He developed an interest in electronic music at an early age, beginning to discover artificial and digital waves before any others. In 2019, he released his debut album Ego de Espinhos on James Ginzburg’s Subtext label, which led to participation in festivals such as the Open Source Art Festival, in Poland, and the NODE Festival, in Italy. In 2020 he releases canal-conduto, EP fruit of a residency in collaboration with Inês Malheiro at the invitation of gnration.

Rita Silva

Rita Silva is a composer and instrumentalist from here, currently studying at the Sonology Institute in the Netherlands, presenting her new album – The Inflationary Epoch – after her debut last year with the promising and self-explanatory ‘Studies Vol. I’. Using improvisation with modular synthesizers and generative programming techniques, Silva indicated in these first studies an approach indebted to pioneers like Suzanne Ciani, Laurie Spigel or Delia Derbyshire – there’s even a theme named after her to make the lineage clear – which is now much more confident and full of purpose. Leaving aside any more scholastic intention, ‘The Inflationary Epoch’ assumes a grander and higher slant, through cascades of arpeggios in a fractal flow that mutates in a hypnotic and somewhat hallucinatory way, in a psychoacoustic cosmos where also hover artists like Caterina Barbieri or Jessica Ekomane.
