Biographies

 

António Pinto Ribeiro

With a degree in Philosophy and a PhD in Cultural Studies, his professional activity is divided between cultural programming and research. Since its inception, he has been the artistic director of Culturgest (1993-2004), director of the Gulbenkian Next Future Program dedicated to the arts and cultures of the global south (2009-2015); he was also the general curator of “Lisboa Capital Ibero-Americana da Cultura 2017”. He was a consultant for the artistic and cultural programming of Évora’s candidacy for the European Capital of Culture 2026. His main research interests are developed in the area of ​​contemporary art and culture, with particular commitment to African and South American ones with relevance to the theme of postcolonialisms. He is a guest lecturer at several international universities. He is currently a researcher at CES, part of the ERC project team “MEMOIRS – Sons of Empire and European Post-Memories” and is an international programmer. He has published dozens of articles and several books, the latest of which are entitled África, os Quatro rios (2015), Miscellaneous (2015), Peut-on Décolonizer les musées? (2019) and New World, contemporary art in post-memory times (2021). As Curator, his latest exhibition is entitled Europa Oxalá, which brings together a group of 21 post-memory artists and is a co-production between MUCEM (Marseille), FCG and MRAC/AfricaMuseum (Belgium) /2021/2023).

Pedro Pires

Pedro Pires has been a creative writer for over 25 years. Confronted from an early age with the task of being Creative Director, he developed love and friendships in design and visual arts. During this time, he was widely awarded nationally and internationally, as well as a regular jury at the main design and advertising festivals. Former president of CCP, the Portuguese creative club, he was named Advertising Personality of the Year in 2017 and Creative Director of the Year in 2020. He has been writing about communication since 2009 for Marketeer magazine and since 2019 for Gerador magazine. Founding partner of Solid Dogma, founder of Poets & Painters, he is constantly looking for alternative paths for his creative and artistic activity and ways of working with friends, dealing above all with the most beautiful part of creation.
