ROOTS 2025 - Migration, Identity, Transculturality

The ROOTS 2025 artist residency brings together artists from Portugal, Mozambique, Cape Verde, and Senegal, inviting them to reflect on roots as displacement, uprooting, and transformation, and the multiple layers that form identity.

The works produced during the residency will be presented to the public on November 22, at 6 pm, at LAC. The parallel program includes a Film Series, a conference with guest artists, show cooking, musical performances, and a series of talks and lectures on colonial legacies and heritage and the tools for their deconstruction.

This year, the ROOTS program begins with the exhibition “Parallel Narratives,” which brings together works produced during previous artistic residencies and unpublished works by Francisco Vidal alongside videographic works by João Samões and Vanessa Fernandes.
