ROOTS 2025 > Guest Artist > Sara Baga (Portugal)
Sara Baga develops a transdisciplinary artistic practice situated at the intersection between ecology, cinema, and performing arts.
As an artist, she thinks of creation as a gesture of listening and reciprocity—activating aesthetics of attention and a way of doing that is simultaneously research, relationship, and offering, revealing a constellation of narratives sensitive to the territory and cultural micro-resistances.
She tends to inhabit areas of collective creation and politicized experimentation, participating in international residencies such as the Xarkis Festival (Cyprus) or the feminist cultural center La Bonne (Barcelona).
Among her works, “La Veine Verte” (2022) stands out, a feature film that documents regenerative practices in five countries in the Gulf of Guinea and has been honored with four international awards, an honorable mention for human rights cinema, and the Chiwara Award (2021), awarded by the Government of Mali in recognition of her cultural contribution.
