Biography
Luís Carlos Figueiras is from Lagos and began his musical studies in lyrical singing in 2014 with teacher Ana Margarida Marreiros at the Portimão Conservatory. He was a member of Professor Liliana Bizineche’s singing class at the University of Évora, where he carried out numerous projects: he was the soloist in the European premiere, at the Garcia de Resende Theater, Évora, of Danilo Guanais’ “Missa de Alcaçus” conducted by Vladimir Silva and G. Rossini’s “Petit Messe Solennelle” conducted by Yan Mikirtumov, and performed arias and duets with the singing class in the TNSC Foyer.
He was admitted as a chorister to The International Chorakademie Lübeck, where he toured China performing “The Buddha Passion” by the composer and conductor Tan Dun. He was also in Warsaw, where he sang the work “Polish Requeim” by the composer K. Penderecki, at the solemn commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. In Setúbal he was a member of the Setúbal Voz Association and the Setúbal Opera Company, where he played the roles of Monostatos in the opera “Magic Flute” by W.A. Mozart and Escamillo in the opera “Carmen” by G. Bizet, where he worked with the composer and conductor Jorge Salgueiro. He was a teacher at the Horta Regional Conservatory on the island of Faial and conductor of the Santa Catarina Choir.
He took part in various masterclasses under the guidance of Birgit Wegemann, Francisco Brazão, Ana Paula Russo, Isabel Alcobia, Charles Wood, Renate Arends and Olga Makarina.
